MEGATRENDS AND CRITICAL THINKING IN THE 21ST CENTURY CULTURE

The Culture of 21st Century Education

I. INTRODUCTION

The role of education is to prepare students to become active, successful, and contributing members of society. Surprisingly, the prevailing school model practiced today was defined in the mid- to late-1800s in response to a society immersed in the Industrial Revolution. Because most work involved manual labor, rote learning and lecture-style teaching was sufficient. In today’s knowledge economy, technology has redefined the skills needed to prepare students to be productive workers.

As our global, interconnected workforce has changed from industrial to service-based, employers are finding gaps in skills and looking for young professionals who possess an agile mindset to think strategically. At the same time, today’s students are digital natives who learn and function differently in our technology-rich society. The standard education method has not changed to teach a broader set of skills that today’s employers are looking for to drive innovation.

II. PURPOSE

Its purpose is to give everyone a broader knowledge to the works of life and to develop our perspective in life. It turns the focus on mastering skills such as analytic reasoning, complex problem solving, and teamwork. Instead of concentrating on the three R's reading, writing, and arithmetic, the emphasis is now on teaching the four Cs: critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity.

III. PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Students need the knowledge and experience of self-directed and project-based learning, and to be able to effectively collaborate within diverse groups. Traditional methods of education do not nurture the development of the skill sets needed to be successful knowledge workers.

IV. OBJECTIVES

To best prepare students to thrive, 21st century learning models, standards, assessments, curriculum, instruction, professional development, and learning environments must all be aligned. Regardless of budget, educators can support 21st century learning by considering and incorporating the following three elements

V. METHODOLOGY

Shift to project-based lessons is needed to give students exposure to learning in relevant, real world contexts. As they work with real world data, tools, and experts, students become actively engaged in solving what they identify as meaningful problems with real consequences. Innovative learning methods that integrate the use of supportive technologies, inquiry- and problem-based approaches, and higher order thinking skills emerge to further prepare students for the workplace.

VI. PROJECT NEEDS

·         Students participation

·         Effective discussion

·         Workforce

·         Critical thinking

COMMUNITY, ENGAGEMENT, SOLIDARITY AND CITIZENSHIP

https://ssir.org/articles/entry/community_engagement_matters_now_more_than_ever

Community Engagement Matters

I. INTRODUCTION

Community engagement is top in creating change to social policies and services. It improves daily lives and efficiency of communities. Also it helps in shaping the community’s future. Engagement to the community present new opportunities for both public and private sectors to have more effective social promotion and impact and increase efficiency. Leaders should learn to understand the struggle and needs of others.

Also they should attain greater educational opportunities for children. Policy makers and community leaders must study the factors that hinder learning.

II. PURPOSE

Community engagement purpose is to widen the knowledge of every person inside the society, to improve citizens skills in participation to solving problems inside the society. Greater knowledge will allow people to see various sides of certain situations and there they can enhance more in depth understanding towards the community problems.

III. PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Challenges related to housing and health may seem to be less controversial than school reform, but these issues generate considerable heat as well. In any event, the crucial lesson here is one that spans a wide range of issue areas: How policymakers and other social change leaders pursue initiatives will determine whether those efforts succeed. If they approach such efforts in a top-down manner, they are likely to meet with failure. We define a top-down approach as one in which elected officials, philanthropists, and leaders of other large institutions launch and implement programs and services without the full engagement of community leaders and intended beneficiaries.

IV. OBJECTIVES

This will focus on how leaders could pursue efforts to social change. Also to improve knowledge and skills of citizens in solving problems that societies face. Then to be able to know better what’s good and what will make better results.

V. METHODOLOGY

The participation of community members and leaders is a big step forward to promote community engagement. Also getting the support of policy makers and other leaders is a big help for continuous establishment of community engagement and in generating support that is necessary for creating impactful changes.

VI. PROJECT NEEDS

Cultivating Convergence through Creative Nonfiction: Identity, Development, and the Metaphor of Transfer

I. INTRODUCTION

A reconsideration of writerly development and the role the creative nonfiction course can play in such development. Though discussion of transfer saturates the discourse of composition and rhetoric and education theory, creative writing appears somewhat isolated from the exchange

Creative writing’s missing seat at the transfer table may be due in part to the institutional divide that has existed historically between composition and creative writing curriculums as well as the social science orientation of much transfer rhetoric, which might feel inconsistent with approaches to practicing and teaching creative writing. I aim here to address this deficit by shifting the conversation about transfer to one of development and to consider the role that the creative nonfiction course can play in that development. I argue that the liminality of creative nonfiction in terms of genre and curricular placement may provide opportunity for sustaining writerly identity across contexts, due to the persona/author relation fostered in the genre as well as workshop pedagogies often practiced in creative writing. From this perspective, the creative nonfiction class becomes a curricular hinge, augmenting student self-investment and efficacy

II. PURPOSE

To reconsider and recognize the role of creative Nonfiction into the development of education and the composition of writing curriculums. Also to be efficient in augmenting students self investment and their knowledge in writing courses.

III. PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Writing studies, in keeping with general education trends, began devoting itself to the question of transfer—the concept of applying knowledge/abilities across contexts—when we discovered that students struggled to generalize what they had learned from first year.

IV. OBJECTIVES

To reinforce the importance of Creative writing to the development of every student and even workers. Because creative writing makes many works to the mind of people and create vents into development as a person and as a part of the community. Creative writing influence many people and many thihgs.

V. METHODOLOGY

The contents and highlights of this paper must be first seen by readers . After the readers read the article they will have clearer comprehension to the importance and the help of creative writing into the development of anyone.

Why Writing Matters

I. INTRODUCTION

At its heart, Nicholas Delbanco’s Why Writing Matters is a love story: an honest and heartfelt expression of one man’s passion for language, and for the art and craft of writing. Discursive rather than

didactic, meandering rather than meticulously structured, Why Writing Matters is part memoir, part

essay collection, part insight into decades of writing pedagogy. It is a work driven by a belief in the

transformative power of words, and the profound personal, cultural and historical shifts they inspire.

As a piece of writing it is, in and of itself, a fine example of what it preaches. Every sentence is beau-

tifully formed, every word wielded with skill and care. And if it has a take-home message, it is that

“the mastery of written discourse is neither instinctual nor automatic.

II. PURPOSE

Its purpose is to give more clear knowledge about the significance of writing, writing allow many things to be noticed. Also writing can foster many things specially when we allow ourselves to see the art and power of it. Writing has many things to be explored, we cannot see those things if we don’t know how important writing is.

III. PROJECT DESCRIPTION

This paper will make many people understand and expand their knowledge about the importance of writing.

IV. OBJECTIVES

To watch the young writer discover their own particular voice is to listen to them practice scales

and start out often croakingly until they grow full-throated. For once we recognize a predecessor and acknowledge influence, it begins to wane. This is an alchemical process—a pattern of

growth and transformation—that every teacher witnesses and all students know

V. METHODOLOGY

Once the readers understand everything about why writing matters, Readers who are interested in the writing life will want to devour this book in its entirety. Others

will prefer to dip in and out of it, particularly teachers of writing who will find in some of its chapters

useful provocations for class discussion.

PHILIPPINE POLITICS AND GOVERNANCE

https://carnegieendowment.org/2019/01/10/philippine-politics-under-duterte-midterm-assessment-pub-78091

Philippine Politics Under Duterte: A Midterm Assessment

I. INTRODUCTION

Within weeks of his inauguration as president of the Philippines in June 2016, Rodrigo R. Duterte became the most internationally known Filipino leader since Ferdinand Marcos, the country’s infamous dictator, and Corazon Aquino, the iconic housewife-turned-president who championed the restoration of democracy in 1986. A great deal of media attention has been paid to Duterte’s murderous war on drugs as well as to his often crass and controversial statements. His embrace of China and his visceral disdain for the United States has garnered additional attention in foreign policy circles, and he frequently is included in media reports and scholarly articles on the rise of populism globally.

The Duterte administration’s assault on human rights and democracy also raises the question of what the U.S. government and America’s nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) can and should do to defend democracy in America’s former colony. The analysis concludes with a discussion of America’s extremely limited support for human rights and democracy in the Philippines since Duterte became president and offers suggestions for a more robust response.

II. PURPOSE

To be sure, there also were significant shortcomings and mistakes. Macroeconomic growth was slow to reduce poverty, and the government was unable to rapidly improve infrastructure, especially in traffic-clogged Metro Manila. It did little to reform dysfunctional food and agriculture policies, and could have done more to strengthen anticorruption institutions and to pass a freedom of information law. In terms of governance, Aquino was widely seen as honest, but he sometimes valued loyalty over competence and occasionally seemed to lack the empathy that Filipinos expect from their political leaders. His administration also suffered from complacency (due to the president’s personal popularity), problems communicating its accomplishments, and its failure to make the Liberal Party a more coherent and durable political party.

III. PROJECT DESCRIPTION

This paper enlightens readers about the things that Duterte has done. There are many things that he did differently and didn’t go as promised yet he provided many improvements and changes to the country of Philippines . Duterte's world view is heavily influenced by nationalist and leftist thought, as well as his twenty-two years experience as a mayor of Davao city.

IV. OBJECTIVES

To provide good assessment about the reign of Duterte as the president of the Philippines and to explain the ways of Duterte. Also to make people understand the top priorities and concerns of Duterte. And to explain the effectiveness of his works. This paper also explain the subversion of democracy and norms in our country today.

V. METHODOLOGY

First, to read and to analyze the content of the paper so that we’ll be able to make critique and understand the contents more. Then to give assessment to the stated achievements, actions, subversion, and the fulfillment of his responsibilities.

It could be associated to human behavior, the distinction between good and bad or right and wrong behavior. In this perspective, religious beliefs are not part of a life-history coordinated strategy per se. Rather, they are a set of beliefs that are pragmatically held by slow-life individuals to help them moralize fast-life behaviors. Several problems arise as a result of these historical events. Why did world religions emerge so late in human history and in such a few locations? Why did they exhibit the same extremely unique combination of close cooperation, limited sociosexuality, and delayed gra...
